Event Date
Speaker: Dr. Jörg Raab/Tilburg University, the Netherlands
Topic: In the last years, Dr. Raab was involved in several empirical studies with the equivalent of the U.S.’s Center for Disease Control in the Netherlands that attempted to map and analyze the complex network structures that might evolve in response to potential infectious disease outbreaks, an outbreak of a New Asian Corona virus among them. These studies were scenario studies, i.e. respondents were asked how they would react and interact in such situations. While these studies generated valuable ex ante information that can be used to improve preparedness they also showed the limitations of the approach for the current and possible future pandemic situations. Dr. Raab will present results from these studies and reflect on them in light of the current situation both from a substantive and a methodological point of view.
