Hello, I’m Haley! I am currently a plant biology PhD candidate in the School of Biological Sciences at Washington State University. My research focuses on photosynthetic enzymes, thermotolerance, and carbon concentrating mechanisms. I use techniques involving biochemistry, molecular biology, and physiology to understand photosynthesis in plants adapted to hotter and drier environmental conditions. I became interested in plant biology while I was an undergraduate at UC Davis majoring in Environmental Science and Management. I conducted my honors thesis in the Brady Lab studying tomato root growth and realized how much I loved lab work. After graduating, I worked in a commercial lab for a biotechnology company for several years before ultimately going back to graduate school. I’m happy to chat about graduate school and working in industry!
