Hi, I’m Mohsen Fatemi, a Ph.D. Candidate in Public Administration at the University of Kansas. My research examines how governments and utilities can make energy systems more equitable and sustainable. I also collaborate with cities, including serving on the Environmental Sustainability Advisory Board in Lawrence, Kansas, to translate research into real-world policies that reduce energy burdens for renters. Along the way, I turned my experience mentoring an undergraduate through a community-engaged energy project into an award-winning article in the Journal of Public Affairs Education, where I shared how hands-on research and real policy work can shape better teaching and mentoring. I have also created Bedtime Stories for Public Servants, a storytelling series that makes complex policy and ethical challenges easier to understand. I love mentoring students, helping them find their own path in public service and environmental work, and showing how research can lead to real-world change.
