PhD Student | Graduate Group in Ecology
Diana is a storyteller, a first-generation college student, and a Colombian-born immigrant raised in the Central Valley of California. She started her career in print journalism writing for community newspapers in the San Joaquin Valley. Diana has also applied her knowledge as a strategic communicator in the public and non-profit sectors.
Diana is now pursuing her Ph.D. in the Graduate Group in Ecology at UC Davis and is a member of the Center for Environmental Policy and Behavior. Her research is focused on studying the intersection of social-ecological systems, environmental justice, and collaborative governance. Diana is interested in investigating adaptive management practices that center on collective action, epistemic equity, and institutional diversity.
Diana completed her M.S. in Environmental Policy and Management at the University of California Davis, where she specialized in Climate Change Science & Policy, and Water Resource Management. For her capstone policy clinic project, Diana worked with The Tahoe Regional Planning Agency to amend regulatory language in support of their transition towards becoming a climate-smart community. Diana completed her B.A. in Mass Communications and Journalism with a specialization in print media and a minor in Spanish at California State University, Fresno. In her free time, Diana can be found exploring one of California's mystical landscapes with her life partner.
