In addition to her dissertation work, Katherine collaborates with UW faculty and community organizations to research Washington’s pilot community assemblies, which aim to strengthen environmental justice advocacy. Her past work includes studying the role of science in ecosystem partnerships in Washington state, as well as conducting Fulbright research on women’s socio-economic empowerment in northeastern Brazil.
