PhD Student | Graduate Group in Ecology
Kyle Dahilig graduated cum laude from the University of Guam in Integrative Biology and a minor in Crop and Environmental Protection Science. He is pursuing his PhD in Ecology in the Graduate Group of Ecology (GGE) with an emphasis on Environmental Policy and Human Ecology at UCDavis. Growing up in Guam, Kyle’s values in environmentalism remain rooted in honoring his island and stewardship. During his undergrad, he received the Doris Duke Conservation Scholars Fellowship, Udall Foundation Scholarship and NSF: Inclusion across the Nation of Communities of Learners of Underrepresented Discoverers in Engineering and Science Fellowship in recognition for his community-driven accomplishments and commitment to ecological research. Before starting his graduate program, Kyle served as the chairman for environment, utilities and transportation in the Guam Youth Congress and research associate for the Guam Plant Extinction Prevention Program. He continued his service as a youth ambassador for the Guam Green Growth, a public-private partnership that localizes the UN Sustainable Development goals by developing sustainable solutions and promoting a green economy for the island and region. Kyle is exploring his research interests in the environmental governance structures throughout Micronesia as the islands work to achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
